Cake Supply
Something is wrong with this picture. Can you tell what it is?

No, it is not the fact that Mawry has a Ceremonial Blade that she has not yet used in the Threnal arena fight.

Nor is it Mawry’s growing pile of crystallized experience points. She saves those until she needs a small amount of XP to reach a milestone, or for after her next TR when a few thousand XP matter more.

It is the eight Raise Cakes. Eight! That means Mawry is accumulating them faster than she can spend them. Huh? Mawry?

Yes.

Even though this is the same Mawry that once used a raise cake to avoid having to repeat the Swiped Signet?

Even though this is the same Mawry that once blew through seven raise cakes on a single quest?

Yes, that Mawry, has eight raise cakes in her inventory.

Have I suddenly gotten careful with my Turbine Points? Have I suddenly, after seven years, gotten better at playing the game? Less reckless, less thoughtless? Have I turned a corner?

No, of course not, none of that. I suspect it has a lot more to do with the fact that Heroic quests get easier over time, my character gets a little stronger each life, and Mawry’s last few incarnations have all been unusually survivable character designs.

So in other words, luck, that probably won’t last.

Nonetheless, I have eight raise cakes, and I love each of them so much.

So much!

  1. I had to log on and take a picture of this after reading this post…

That’s just what I’ve gathered over the last 6 months (I think) and are just sat in my shared bank. I keep forgetting to grab them for characters πŸ™

  2. Dude. You just jinxed yourself! Next thing you know you’re gonna burn through them soon now!

  3. Think you might need to give yourself a little bit of credit, 10000 hours makes you an ddo expert now; don’t you know?

    • Pardon moi, but where does 10k hours come from?

      • Think the idea comes from Outliers. “10,000-Hour Rule”, claiming that the key to success in any field is, to a large extent, a matter of practicing a specific task for a total of around 10,000 hours

        • Oh the Malcolm Gladwell thing. I am an outlier myself; no number of repetitions will make me a good player.

P.S. his book Blink is probably the smartest and best nonfiction I’ve ever read.

  4. What Is Wrong With This Picture?

    Foremost no Ghostbane is visable.

Also, bummer those xp yummies don’t stack and are cloggin’ your inv. Dutch style.

  5. Could some of those res cakes be from daily dice? I’ve gotten a heap load of those, slayer pots and heal pots. And bells of opening. Fear me, Doors of Eberron!

  6. And here I thought what was wrong with the picture was that the halfling wasn’t wearing cloth armor and handwraps. πŸ˜‰

  7. Ahh rez cakes.. i tend not to use them all that often & have a stack of about 70 or so in my shared bank – silly number, but i had a ton of the egg hunt tickets on a couple of characters that got transferred over from Devourer ages back & cashed them in πŸ™‚

What do you think?
