Soloing VON3 Live

I was expecting to find DDO down this morning. A maintenance outage? That was supposed to begin at 7:00AM? But no. DDO is here and now and I am excited to try soloing VON3 on my Feybuckler build, on Epic Elite, again.

Except this time I am expecting to win. Expectations! Hey, I was close those other times I’ve tried, fairly close at least, and now I am better. Mawry is level 24 instead of level 21. Her equipment is still a mish-mash of whatever heroic and epic gear she happened to have in the TR bank. Yes, she is still wearing Heroic Minos Legens (and that is not the only minimum level 12 item she still has on) , but she’s upgraded her DPS with a Thunder-Forged shortsword and her survivability with the Hide of the Goristro, Iron Mitts, and Orcish Privateer Boots.

But enough prep. Game time!

Soloing VON3 on EE - or Not
Last week, my FeyBuckler/Completionist Mawry ventured into the Jungles of Khyber on Epic Elite. Except Mawry was only level 20, and she got popped like an angry zit on school picture day in the second fight.

Normally I would just write that off. I don’t care for EE soloing, it strikes me as a rather crazy activity that is only for those who are truly devoted to it, which I am not. And it is super-crazy-nuts to try and solo something on EE when you are four levels below the quest. Four levels!

No shame in a defeat like that, right? I am free to go on about Mawry’s current life with no regrets. Except it bothered me anyway, because I didn’t have to die. If I’d played even the slightest bit better, I’d have survived.

As days passed I kept turning it over in my head. What if I’d done this? Or instead, that? Maybe I can solo this thing? At level 21? Maybe the FeyBuckler build is just that good?

Just another VON3 run, racking up the XP during an bonus XP weekend.

Go here, kill this, go there, kill that, run some more, kill the other thing. Routine. Something done so many times, on so many characters, I might be able to do it with my eyes closed.

And there’s the Marut. Punch punch punch, there he goes, vanquished as quickly and painlessly as everything else. Time to loot and finish out.

But wait … what’s that?
