Wow. I just looked back, and it’s been ten months since Mawry and Majicka set out to run every quest in the game and earn 5000 favor.
During which we’ve both Epic TR’d, actually Mawry has twice, even though “Epic TR” is not a verb. We’ve seen so many things. Looted so many chests. Slain so much evil.
But we’re having a terrible time getting through the last little bit. You want to finish a marathon with a sprint, but in our case it is more of a crawl. A painful crawl. Through broken glass and barb wire.
It seems that this is a more difficult pursuit than originally envisioned. We knew we’d have to run some quests we don’t particularly care for. Okay, we’re cool with that. And we knew there’d be some that are hard to do on elite bravery streak, or that seem to require more than two people. Okay, we’re cool with that too.
We’ve even hit a wall before in this quest. Not for long, we found a way to punch through, but it seemed quite wall-like when initially encountered.
But this is different. We didn’t account for just how hard it would be to find a group to run some of these quests.
We’ve come up with two-man strategies for a lot of quests that at first glance seemed to need more than two: In the Demons Den, the Hound of Xoriat, The Titan, others. And we’re still trying to find two-man strategies for Precious Cargo and for Brothers of the Forge, although so far our strategy has been variations on:
- Flail about uselessly
Which is a common strategy, but not one that will not earn you very much favor.
You can’t tell from these images, but we’ve done almost all of the challenges too. Not all to six stars, mostly fives (except the Rushmores which are mostly 2s and 3s). We could wring another 10-25 favor out of the challenge system if we could just get the rest from quests.
For the entire last month we’ve been logging in with (whoever) and before doing anything else, scanning the LFM panel for any of the remaining quests. Last week there was an elite Vision of Destruction. Yay! A couple of weeks ago, someone ran the Lord of Blades and the Master Artificer. Bonanza!
But now we’re stuck.
I don’t put up LFMs of my own for Ascension Chamber, Fall of Truth or Precious Cargo because I don’t know the quests well enough (or at all, really) and don’t care for LFMs that beg for a guide. I may have to get over that though.
We’ve had LFMs for Tower of Despair, a couple of times, but no one joins. After an hour there are four people in the group and we give up.
I know what we have to do. We have to get more aggressive about posting for groups, and more patient about waiting for them to fill, but neither of these are fun for us.
Oh well. You want the shiny +5 Tome that comes with 5000 favor, you need to work for it.
Who said it had be fun?
