The last couple of weeks have been Reincarnation Time here at DDOGamer, as we convert all of our grizzled level 28 characters into shiny new level 20 Epic TRs – or even shinier, even newer, level 1 Heroics!

It’s a side effect of the upcoming level cap increase. As soon as Update 29 hits, it is going to take another 1.65 million experience to become eligible for TR. 1.65 million. Here, I’ll spell that out:

Not a horrible amount, not at all, but I have a lot of characters at cap. 1.65 million times eight characters is over thirteen million XP. And that is a lot.

So instead, I am having a wooden heart festival, reincarnating anyone who remotely might want to be reincarnated someday, whether it had been my plan previously or not.

An New Life Jamboree. Reincarpalooza.

All of this reincarnating has its own unexpected side effect: a series of armor fashion shows. It seems that I have developed a habit of looking at each piece of armor I loot before I sell it; you never know when one will be worth keeping or glamoring. Not often, the vast majority of randomly-generated armor is hideous. No, that is not accurate, I need a word worse than “hideous”: off to the thesaurus!

abhorrent, abominable, appalling, awful, disgusting, distasteful, dreadful, evil, foul, fulsome, gross, hideous, horrendous, horrible, horrid, loathsome, nasty, nauseating, nauseous, noisome, noxious, obnoxious, obscene, odious, rancid, repellent, repugnant, repulsive, revolting, scandalous, shocking, sickening, ugly

Yes. All of those. I am comfortable saying that the vast majority of randomly-generated armor looks like all of those bad words, wrapped together in a particularly awful burrito of badness.

But I digress. This is not about all of the accurate yet unpleasant ways that I can describe random armor. I was explaining how many of my characters have accumulated a pile of varying random armors, waiting for me to have the attention to look at them before unloading them on the armor broker.

And so, a series of fashion shows as I inspect each piece on each character before TR.

Like this one.

As you can see, it’s not all bad. Just mostly bad. Mostly very, very bad.

It becomes funny when you chain them together. How many bad armors can I see? All of them? All bad?

Yes. All bad. But quite funny in their unequivocal badness.

Enjoy the fashion show.

  1. It’s not the armor, it’s the haircut.

  2. Slight correction: an additional 1,650,000 XP required, after U29, for a non-heroic TR (i.e. Epic or Iconic), as, I believe, one can still heroically TR (provided one is not running an iconic toon) at level 20+.

    Just sayin’…

  3. Half of those didn’t look like random loot gen armour…

Either way, your opinion of loot gen armour, is my opinion on cosmetic kits for the store.

Oddly enough, some of the better looking loot gen stuff is no longer in the loot gen tables πŸ™ I was looking back through old screenshots the other day, and was like “Why did I ever sell these, if only I had known!?”. All the mirrors of glamering [I forget Turbine’s spelling] I’ve bought, were used on years old loot gen armour; the only cosmetic kit I’ve bought, I never use.

Cosmetic kits should be a total cash cow, Turbine, come on and step your game up!
(I love you for creating the Mirror, though, I’d been waiting 5 or 6 years for that *hugs Turbine*)

    • It occurs to me, since my taste is the opposite of Geoff’s, it’s probably the opposite of the whole community, and EVERYONE is buying cosmetic armour. That works too, more moneys for Turbine πŸ™‚

  4. The shadowfell outfit is a good one, and I rather like the look of the ToEE plate armours too – decent & practical-looking design.

The long chain one looks really good on warforged.

  5. Didnt see this when you first posted but could not stop laughing as each new comment and pic came up. Thanks again for keeping the fun in this GAME.

What do you think?
