What, me worry?
Great big can of whupass
opening in 5 … 4 … 3 … 2 …

Gianthold Tor is the perfect caster quest. Shrines everywhere, and an endless stream of oversize monsters that need killing.

Finger of Death, Phantasmal Killer, Wail of the Banshee, Disintegrate, Chain Lightning … all your best spells … as fast as you can … as often as you want … for most of the quest!

Is it the most fun quest in the game? Maybe, but I love Stormcleave too, and Rainbow, and … well … I love lots of them.

But this one is my favorite caster quest. By far.

Fear me giant-types
Raining spell points down on all
Tiny ball of death

Got to go, I see another dozen assorted giant types awaiting my mana-powered ministrations.

🙂 😀 🙂

  1. Agreed. To continue, how about the dragons? I haven’t completely refined my technique on Normal yet, but on Casual with a hire I can solo the whole thing, dragons included, with no pot usage. I have managed to take down the Blue Dragon/Giant combo on Normal every time, and have done the Black one ONCE, but failed the other times. White? Fuggedaboudit.

  2. You don’t have to do it alone! 🙂

A wizzie I know killed the white dragon by his lonesome while the rest of us barely kept up on the giant.
And then another arcane placed some DOTs on the dragon and made him go from 100% to 10% in a flash after they stacked.

I love arcanes in general, but even more so in Tor. Tried melees only + me once or twice… disaster. You need a strong arcane, two is even better… or a strong arcane and a strong divine caster (Greater Command is beautiful in there, and cometfall and BB and and and…).

  3. *counts* Hmmm…

  4. Oops! Now that I live in the South I forget that “you all” is two syllables … fixed!

  5. Well, heck, you could have made it “y’all” – that’s one syllable, right?

  6. On CASUAL, Shin? *looks at Comic*

  7. I tried soloing it a couple of days ago on Ejecta. On Normal. I was liberally applying the Mass Charm Monster – effective, SP-efficient, but a sloooooow strategy. I cleared everything to the levers and then ran out of time.

I don’t think it would have worked for the gatekeeper battle though. There is no hireling good enough to stay in the box for that whole battle by him or herself.

  8. An invisible one will and won’t get aggro but you will have to deal with them after the Gatekeeper arrives.

What do you think?
