Last night was guild Shroud night, perfect, my CC-wizard-in-training Ejecta needs all the Shroud she can get. Normal Shroud is boring (although the change to blade damage spiced it up!) but ever since update 12 one can earn an extra chest by running on Hard as well as avoiding boredom.

And so, Hard it is. Already the double entendre potential is through the roof.

We’re pretty good at this by now. We should be, my guildie Pug has 187 completions on his barbarian, and are quickly at the chapter four chests: naturally, I am Boned again.* Not that I am complaining, I am amassing one of DDO’s greatest collection of Large Gnawed Bones. Maybe I can wire them together into a dinosaur skeleton to decorate our airship?

* If I’m going to pull something useless I prefer it be a Large Arrow so I can yell “Arrowed!” in my best StrongBad-from-Teen-Girl-Squad voice. I don’t think anyone gets the reference but me, but I never let that stop me.

I simply do not have loot luck. This is not news, I’ve always been this way. Its all good though, I make up for it with effort, bargaining, and good friends. One way or another I am usually able to acquire the items I intentionally target although sometimes it takes awhile. The only exception has been the Vibrant Purple Ioun Stone. I spent a year trying to pry it out of Irestone Inlet, or find a reasonable trade for it, but no luck. And now that Sparksy is going to TR into an Artificer, I no longer need it. Which means I am due to pull it any day ๐Ÿ™‚

Part 5 goes as well as the rest of the quest went and soon we are looting the three end chests. Yes, three, because of the new Hard bit. I wonder if we get four on Elite? I’m going to have to try that again just to find out. But in any case.

My draw? As expected, another Large Bone. Double-boned. Except the cleric in our group, generally the voice of reason for our guild (or half anyway, we were missing the other voice-of-reason cleric) thinks maybe I should not use the phrase “I’ve been Double-Boned!” again in public.

She was kidding. I think ๐Ÿ™‚

Actually, I was triple-boned, as my end reward list list contained yet another Large Bone but after the reactions I’d already gotten I decided to just keep that to myself.

  1. Au contraire mes ami (sp? I’m not French, afterall) – I FULLY understand the “StrongBad” reference (you did see my post on “TROGDOR!”, didn’t you?). Nice – “ARROWED!!” And who can for get: “LATHED!”

You should say it MORE often :P.

I used to get nothing but large devil scales. Annoyed me to have to trade such awesome loot cause I’d never get any stones.
Now all I get is stones :P, oh DDO, you like to mess with me!

    DOUBLE-STONED sounds rather good though.

  3. The tidbit about chests on hard was new to me and good to know, let us know how it turns out with the elite? Thanks for the nice read.

  4. Better than getting the SCALES, man. I needed some REALLY powerful remove disease potions for those. Serves me right for picking up that one-eyed half-orc at the Wayward Lobster… ๐Ÿ™‚

What do you think?
