As both of you who occasionally read this space may recall, a kind and generous DDO forumite by the name of Livmo offered up a digital download code for the Menace of the Underdark expansion pack, and asked DDOGamer to help give it away.
And so we have, in true DDOGamer fashion, meaning it took a couple of weeks and was totally lacking in quality in every possible way.
Yet in spite of that (and in spite of ourselves), nearly 70 of you entered for the giveaway. I asked you to describe why you wanted the expansion pack, and you all delivered. Nicely done, and very interesting entries they were!
I wish I had a prize for all of you, not just because of your stories (which I thoroughly appreciated) but because you also have to suffer through this blog, a near-daily batch of of inanity and uselessness where perfectly good pixels come to die.
But I digress. We are here on the weekend for a special cause: to choose a winner! So let’s be about it.
There were 71 total comments. Some were from duplicated emails which did not count, or by me (which never counts) leaving 67 valid entries. A couple of those entries were marked “not an entry” by their author, but I am leaving them in anyway, if I accidentally roll one of them as the winner I will reroll.
You will note a long list of names and numbers along the right of this column. This is the list of entries, which I double and triple-checked to ensure there would be no … let’s be polite and call them “discrepancies” … as there was with the last DDOGamer contest.
All we need now is a random number between 1 and 67. Oh look, here’s one now!
Congratulations Thogger, I will be emailing you the digital download code shortly after this is published.
In the spirit of the holidays, and because I can, I am also picking out two of the (non-winning) entries for a little something extra. Very little, only 500 Turbine Points, but hey, they are free. And Turbine Points. Nothing wrong with that, right?
I am choosing to reward what appear to be the two hardest working commentors, because I love the effort.
Check out D’s epic coming of age tale; coherent, gripping, and in poetic meter! Yowza. I wish I had more to offer as a reward.
A second tip of the Turbine Points to Louis Vaughan, who’s multi-page saga about loving and losing a Drow maiden has everything you would want in a love story, except maybe carriage returns (<Shift><Enter> Louis, learn it and love it!).
And so ends another DDOGamer giveaway. I wish I had prizes for everyone, your entries were heartfelt and heartwarming and I loved them all.
Thank you for reading this blog, and for being such awesome people in general.
An extra large thank you to Livmo, who’s generosity made this giveaway happen.
Happy playing everyone!
