I remember a time, back in the day, when I used to roll 100’s on my daily dice. 100’s! Sometimes, multiple 100’s in a row!
Those days are gone, gone, gone.
Gone like the warm touch of a summer breeze in October.
Gone like all the best movies when it’s your turn to choose.
Gone like underage frat boys at a kegger when the police show up.
Really, really gone.
Winter is coming – it was 33 degrees last night, even though I live in the South and even though we are still in the middle of fall. For those of you who use rational measuring standards, it was 1 degree. One measly little degree. The world rolled a 1 on its daily dice too.
That sounds much colder even though it is the same.
But it is not about how the cold sounds, it is about how it feels, and I am not ready to feel cold. Not yet. No.
But no one asked me.
Nor did the dice gods of DDO’s puckish random number generator. They give, they take, all the while chortling at our frantic attempts to make some sense of their patterns.
Yesterday, warm, and 100s. As far as I can remember.
Today, cold, and 1’s. As far as I can see.
Hey you, yes you, dude,
Rolling your dice like a boss:
Kharma is a bitch
And so the wheel turns, grinding me under like so much flour in a stone pestle. And yet I will rise again, someday, 100’s must be in my future. Warm days too.
100’s and spring.
The former could come any minute. And the latter is only six months away. Only six months! I can do six months.
