|Get back! Get back!
Get back to where you once belonged
The new UI is here! The new UI is here! Very different, but to me anyway, very cool. Much less obtrusive. The ability to save layouts is a big plus, even if it doesn’t actually put everything where it ought to, it comes pretty close. One is left with the need to adjust a couple of hot bars rather than all of them.
And yet, the new UI represents change, and as we all know, change is hard. Some changes are more popular while others … let’s just say they are less popular and leave it at that.
The most common UI complaint I’ve heard from those I’ve played with this week involves the relocation of the status icons. Everyone is used to seeing them on the right of the screen but now they are hiding on the left where they are strangely difficult to find. Fortunately, Turbine left this choice in our hands: you want them back on the right* then you can have them back on the right.
* Like all normal people do. As for the rest of you … you … lefties! … you can just stop reading right now, this is not for you.
Repositioning Your Status Icons
- Step 1: Open the Main Menu
The easiest way to do this is to just hit the [Escape] key. If you prefer more complication you can instead locate the (&) button that now resides in the lower left corner of the UI, click it, and then select Main Menu from the pop-up choices.
- Step 2: Select Options
This is a pretty easy step: click the “Options” button.
- Step 3: Select UI Settings
Another pretty easy step: click the “UI Settings” button.
- Step 4: Scroll down to the Justify setting
The relevant setting is four clicks down on the scroll bar. Past the first set of colors but above the second set.
- Step 5: Turn off the setting “Justifiy Effect Icons to Screen Left”
As illustrated above by Brymn the Illustrious, simply click the checkbox.
That’s it, your icons are back on the right, where nature intended them to be. Happy justifying everyone.
