Wonderdog and his nemesis the Training Dummy
Wonderdog and his nemesis

You can always tell when an artificer or druid is on the Commando’s airship.

Grr! Growl! Angry bark! Grr!

While every animal or metal companion (I hate the word “pet”, it is so condescending) is different, they all seem to have one thing in common: utter hatred for the Training Dummy.

Mawry’s wolf, Sparksy’s iron defender, whatever, all of them, they all hate the training dummy. They hate it SO MUCH! Just listen:

Growl! Grr! Grr! Growl!

I wonder – does Pale Master’s Skeletal Warrior hate the Training Dummy too? And if it does, does it hate it THIS MUCH?

Angry Bark! Grr! Growl! Grr!

That is a lot of hate.

  1. It’s all in the intimidate, so I suspect that the skellie just attacks the thing and kills it, but I really have no idea, as I don’t play wizards.

  2. πŸ˜› Wonderdog? Teehee. I named mine Awesomesauce.

  3. Well they’re very territorial & the dummy is an enemy that has invaded your ship! it must be fought off with maximum ferocity, in case it brings others!

  4. He’s just playing with the big overstuffed chew toy. πŸ™‚

  5. I love my companions, and yes they somehow reversed the names in DDO, with cosmetic pets labelled companions …

FYI, if for whatever reason you want your companion to get their Training Dummy buff, they must be the first to kill it in the instance, else … well, when it respawns they just get into a staring contest with it.

PS, I am disappointed we can’t pick the gender or species of druid companions, seems like an obvious feature.

  6. Those first few times when the pet of another character stole my buff could easily have remained forgotten and I would be ok with that. Thanks πŸ™ I really enjoyed the pic of the halfling dummy, training on the Scarecrow that Luedwig so painstakingly retro-fitted for the ship’s current Cranial Rat infestation. πŸ˜‰

  7. Yes, the PM skeleton minion will also attack it, even if he is in defensive mode. He is more of the strong silent type, though, so you don’t get the hateful sound effects.

  8. I have two “companions” (pets, bleh!), A Wolf named WeeGo and an Iron Defender named Vicksbane…

What do you think?
