Mawry has Dragon Breath
Talk to the hand!

Mawry is not going for Epic Completionist. Not really. She is working her way through the various Epic Destinies, but more to earn Fate Points than to try for something as time-consuming as Epic Completionist.

On the other hand, if she earns Epic Completionist by accident, while pursuing other goals … well … nothing bad about that, right? And unlike Heroic Completionist, you don’t even have to use up a Feat slot to take advantage of it.

But I digress. This is not about Epic Completionism, nor Fate Points. It is about one particular Epic Destiny ability that Mawry has recently achieved, one that she never would have expected to earn, but has anyway, and one that she totally, thoroughly and completely loves.

Dragon Breath.

Is having a breath weapon Commando-like? It takes no special preparation or material. It is lightweight and easily portable. It is not very flexible in use, all it does is burn (or freeze, or melt, or electrify, depending on your element of choice). But it is powerful! Even though Mawry has spent zero points of any type in spell casting, still, her breath weapon does 1000-2400 points of fire damage to everything in front of her.

Draconic Incarnation destinyNice!

And it looks cool, even though it does not really look like dragon breath. You can see it in the image at the top of this article: Mawry appears to be casting, and the flames come out of her hands. Not her mouth. Maybe she is one of those kinds of people that talks with her hands?

But regardless.

She had to fill out the Draconic Incarnation epic destiny. Meaning, she had to spend the points on something, and dragon breath was the most attractive of the available choices. Therefore she has it, and having it, might as well use it. I just didn’t expect it to be so fun! A bunch of fiery damage to everything in front of me, five times per rest. Fun!

Breathe in, breathe out, flames!
The worst breath ever

I’ve already worn this out with my Gamer Girl. “Here comes the breath weapon!” I say, or “this looks like a job for dragon breath”, or “I’m getting them all in a group so I can breathe on them all at once” and she sighs. She’s heard it before, many times. Many, many times.

So I am excitable and easily pleased. There are worse things one can be. And besides, Dragon Breath!

Halfling-sized Commando-flavored Dragon Breath! How awesome!

Four out of five dentists surveyed recommend Dragon Breath for their patients who choose breath weapons.

  1. That poor girl.:)

  2. Four out of five accountants in the dental industry surveyed recommend Acid Dragon Breath for the patients of their clients. πŸ˜‰

  3. “That’sa one SPICY meataball!” πŸ˜€ Though considering the whole “from the hands” casting method, it looks more like a response to the GMoF hadouken in the style of the Crocodile Dundee “you call that a knife?” bit.

Daunting roar is a good bet to pick up in draconic too… round em up, paralyse as many of them as possible (can’t remember if it counts as helpless) then unleash the AoEs πŸ™‚

What do you think?
