DDO the Card Game: Rangers and Rogues

This post is part of a continuing series where I present my ill-formed thoughts about a DDO-inspired card game to you for review and suggestion.

Game design progresses, slowly and fitfully, but ever forward. Today, Rangers and Rogues. Both classes are DPS classes but go about it differently.

Rangers are glass cannons, with Tempest Rangers having potentially the highest melee DPS of all due to their unique ability to use two melee weapons at once. Arcane Archer rangers have the highest ranged attack values of any class. But both have minimal defense and hit points.

Rogues have the unique ability to close to combat without drawing monster attention.  Rogues are just about as defenseless as Rangers but have the evasive ability to reduce different types of damage. Mechanics are the game’s best trapsmiths but are not by any means toothless. Meanwhile, Assassins get bonuses when attacking monsters that are not focused on them, maybe even instantly slaying the target!

  1. Hanork the Halfling Commando, Epic Hero – halfling Rogue (mechanic) level 30 Atk 9 Rng 5 Def 3 DMG 12 HP 5
TAP to discard any level 35 or lower Trap or Lock
SACRIFICE to remove enemy focus from all other characters

“Cleric… I pulled all the hate again – hanork”

  2. there is a part of me that wishes this could be adapted to using a normal deck of cards (or 2, or 3…)

  3. You make rangers sound so weak… I’m sitting at AC82 HP492 PRR63 at 15 right now 😉

  4. I’d buy some cards if you go businessey with it.

What do you think?
