public-instances

This is part of a continuing series where I present my thoughts about a DDO-inspired card game for your input and dissection. Previous posts include:

Game description and rules:

Overview, card types and deployment, combat, class balancing

Classes:

Bard, Favored Soul, Cleric, Arcane spellcasters, Rangers and Rogues, Melee classes

Everything else:

Monsters, races, feats, spells, statuses and afflictions, heroic quests, epic quests, legendary quests, traps & puzzles, festivals

Public Instance cards play directly to your deploy area. While some are of “play once and discard” sort, most are permanent effects. You may deploy as many Public Instance cards as you like.

I do not like the name “Public Instances”. I just don’t have a better idea. Maybe you do?

By the way, I am becoming increasingly sure that “Sets” are the right way to release all these cards. The Base set includes all of Heroic cards and the “Base” cards like statuses and afflictions, festivals, and a few of the public instances. Epic cards are the first “expansion”, then Legendary cards.

Or something like that.

🙂 😀 🙂

  1. Open Area, General Ability, General Bonus, Circumstance… um… that’s all I can think of and I don’t think they’re an improvement

  2. I’ve used the phrase Adventure Areas before.

What do you think?
