My amazing daughter convinced me that having only one Raid Boss was too easy; knowing the challenge in advance made it possible to plan ahead on how to defeat t.

I pointed out that this is called “strategy”, and is generally a good thing. Nonetheless, she was insistent that replay-ability would be negatively impacted by having only the one Raid Boss. She is very smart, so I am going to take her word for it.

 

 

Is two better than one? Probably. Is it enough? Would three be better?

I could add a certain Lich that wants to be a god. But if I do, I will later need three Raid Bosses for the Epic version and the Legendary version too. Three Epic raids is not hard to imagine (Velah, Demon Queen, Sully the Horned Devil?) but three Legendary raids are tougher. Harry, Xy’zzy, and … who ? There are three Legendary raids but one of them is Tempest Spine and I’ve already used the Storm Giant.

I could just make one up altogether.

A bigger issue is that nine raid bosses would be hard. Each one has to be as interesting and powerful as it is unique. Coming up with nine and playtesting them all, thoroughly, will be quite a challenge.

Maybe two per set is enough?

  1. THREE raid bosses?! I’m imagining earthquake mass kills going off while the lich-who-wants-to-be-a-god throws out Encase and a giant book goes all ape doodoo at the same time. Definitely gonna need some more PRR/MRR for that!
