Changes Ahead

As a group of particularly astute readers, you have likely noticed that things looks a bit different today. Lighter. More reactive. Brighter.

But I’m not done. I’m not even sure where the changes are going to take me. Probably not much of a difference in content, and certainly not anything that would prevent those who write here from feeling comfortable in continuing to do so.*

* And while I am at it, a special thank you to Luedwig Bait’Hoven, Mizzaroo, Steiner-Davion, and everyone else who has written for DDOGamer. Thank you!

It’s more of a spring cleaning than a revamp. I think. I only have so much time to devote to things like themes and colors; every minute spent tweaking the look of the site is a minute I did not spend writing for it.

But sometimes, one must bite the bullet and get on with the tweaking regardless.

You can help: if you note something that no longer works correctly, let me know! Here are the things that I already know are wrong and still need work:

  • The FAQs page still has a black background and can’t be read
  • Links and text in the side column is too light to read well
  • Excerpt titles on the home page are too light to read well
  • Searching by author yields a page where all of the text is too light to read well

Please chime in should you find anything else that needs fixing.

Meanwhile, I will keep tweaking until I get it right. I’m actively looking for themes that are already lighter, brighter, and more reactive because like all good programmers I am lazy, and if someone has already done all this work there is no reason not to take advantage of it.

Got to dress up the useless drivel. Or at least, dress it up as much as one can.

  1. Hi Geoff. Before emptying browser cache I was not able to read the text in the article at all, I switched browser to check what the page was supposed to look like.

It might be because I’m not good with change, but I kind of liked the old bg better, mostly because the contrast between the widgets and the bg was bigger. Atm everything kind of blends together in shades of grey.

  2. [control][f5] causes browsers to redraw a page without referring to cache. FYI. On the greys, you are right, that needs correcting.

Patience, dear friend Micki, patience πŸ™‚

  3. In reading this on the WordPress mobile app, I have to report that every change you made is broken. It’s BROKEN LIKE STEALTH!!!! Not a single change in background color or text! GASP!

(Which is to be completely expected, black text, white background, et al.)

But I demand turbine points for the inconvenience of not seeing the changes as intended on a platform that doesn’t support it! And free loot for the lack of llamas in this post!

    • I completely over looked the llama thing. My issue with not seeing my image associated text on upcoming post seems almost petty and self-indulgent in comparison…. πŸ™

  4. My eyes!!! He-he, still, lighter and brighter is pretty scary … especially in a darkened room…

Are you sure you don’t work for Google?

What do you think?
