Anyone can write for DDOGamer
Whenever I appear on DDOCast, at the end of the episode, Patrick asks me to “plug my site”. This always catches me off guard even though he does it every time. This weekend was no different, I stagger through a spontaneous-yet-not-funny joke about Ravenloft and then stutter my way through a vacuous paragraph that holds as little meaning as it does value.

So let’s lay it out, right here, where I have time to think about what I want to say.

DDOGamer is a place where you can expect fresh content every weekday (and sometimes on the weekend as well). In a a rather wide variety of formats, ranging from thoughtful reference articles to MMOtivational posters and animated gifs to bad haiku. Generally but not always DDO-related. Maybe you will be exposed to a new board game. Maybe a story about cats. But probably it will be about DDO.

More importantly, DDOGamer is a place where anyone can post their DDO-based thoughts. A longish list of authors have contributed over the years, and a few still do, with varying degrees of regularity.

That is worth repeating. Anyone can write for DDOGamer. Anyone.

How would that work?

All you have to do is ask, and I will grant you author privileges, the process is fast, and often you can be writing on the same day you make the request.

  • You do not have to agree with me (in some ways it is better if you don’t!)
  • You do not have to commit to anything (some people write once a week or once a month, others once in a while, many once ever. And all of that is okay)
  • You don’t even have to worry about being good at this (look at me, I write all the time in spite of my obvious lack of talent)

The easiest way to ask for authoring privileges is to use the feedback form on the FAQs page. Yes I just noticed that the colors are messed up on that page but I will fix it. Soon (or .. soonish) for now please just carry on and use it anyway.

I have written down a few guidelines for the site as a whole. You may want to take a moment and read them, although if you don’t, that’s okay too, in all the years I’ve had this site I’ve never had to edit an article.

For that matter, I’ve only had to edit one comment. Ever.

But these are details. The important part is that you can write for DDOGamer if you like, it’s easy, and I will help.

And if you’d rather just sit back and read, well, I may question your judgement (after all, it is largely a collection of useless tripe and inanity), but no worries, read on and enjoy yourself.

Pfft – you say that as if it were a *bad* thing.

  2. *GASP* You’ve changed emoticons! Is nothing sacred anymore?

  3. What? Emoticons? Where?

What do you think?
