After Further Review, Geoff Remains An IdiotAfter further review, Geoff remains an idiot

It seems that I unintentionally left 13 valid entries out of last week’s drawing for the last copy of the Stormreach Campaign.

Abomination!
except intentions were good
so … incompetence?

The worst case was astute reader Duvok, who did not get his haiku in the rotating haiku gif because he put it in the comments rather than submitting it via the haiku entry form, and then didn’t have his comment counted either because of my incompetence. A double whammy.

So yes, intentions are good, but intentions count only so much; responsibility requires action. Normally I espouse irresponsibility: less care = less stress = more happy. But this is different.

And so:

  1. I am posting the complete list of contest entries here
  2. Please review the list and see if you are represented correctly
  3. If you are not, please let me know, either in the comments here, or via the comments form on the FAQ page
  4. On Friday, I will hold another drawing consisting of those who were skipped the first time
  5. It won’t be as big a deal, there won’t be a video. I am only good for about one video every six months
  6. The winner of this redemption drawing will get a code for 1,550 Turbine Points

Nowhere near as cool as the Stormreach Campaign, but the copy awarded Friday really was the last copy. This will have to do. And besides, 1,550 Turbine Points is not horrible, right? Way better than a sharp pointy thing in the rump, yes?

Also, I’ve re-worked the haiku gif to include Duvok.

Haiku entries for the Stormreach Campaign contest

Here are the 13 people that I know entered a comment but did not get a comment entry. Once again, please feel encouraged to double-check the contest entry list here and make sure these 13 are all there are.

  • citiplaysddo
  • kayllenn
  • Dan
  • Chi_Ryu
  • Ecgric
  • Erdrique
  • Cardo
  • Darsith
  • Mike
  • Ravand
  • Duvok
  • Hazelnut
  • Dan Kimber

Just to be clear, only comment entries were effected; haiku entries (including a number of haiku entries belonging to these 13 people) went directly to my email inbox and to the best of my ability to tell, all were counted.

So it will be a make-good contest, of a sorts.

Contest mea culpa
Re-randomize and re-draw
pseudo-redemption?

On Friday we’ll see who wins. Again.

Sorry.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  1. darn, you have mine…

    er.. *cough*.. I mean

yes all mine are there – good stuff!!

  2. Honor

    Above all else

  3. “NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition! Our chief weapon is surprise…surprise and fear…fear and surprise…. Our two weapons are fear and surprise…and ruthless efficiency…. Our *three* weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency…and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope…. Our *four*…no… *Amongst* our weapons…. Amongst our weaponry…are such elements as fear, surprise…. I’ll come in again.”

If it’s good enough for the Spanish Inquisition to have a recount, it’s good enough for DDOGamer.

Let’s see what we can do about a fix 🙂

  4. I’m not fussed, it’s all good fun (and even without the comment entry, I had a 1 in 149 chance of pulling that rare item, that’s better odds than I’m used to!).

Anyway, I pulled the Shard of the Sword of Shadows about a week or so ago, so have used my luck quota for the decade!

  5. You’ve really gone above and beyond Geoff!

  6. I wish I’d remembered to enter, but I agree with Bob. Geoff, you’ve done more than anyone could reasonably expect.

Very classy of Quijonn to donate a copy, very classy of you to have the giveaway AND come up with a consolation prize, and very classy of Kevin to offer his prize back for a reroll… which I’m glad you declined because 1) he won fair and square, and 2) maybe someday he’ll let his guild successor borrow it. *g*

  7. Geoff, now i’m feeling myself important (“astute reader Duvok”). Lol. It’s almost a post about me, or at least let me believe it. Thanks for care so deeply about my concerns. The turbine points were not necessary (but they are welcome, lol), I believe everybody agrees that the fun was enough prize and the winner is rightful. I’m sure the turbine points will provide lots of fun to whoever get them, and your act was very honourable. I’m thinking about create a halfling in your server to meet the Comandos, they must be nice people. Now I have to say that english is not my mother tongue. Write a Haiku in english was a very tricky challenge to me. So I ask to you and your astute readers: is it understandable?

So it goes as a soul from the last blast mistress
    Known for premises beyond low
Though far fairly flows where the great storm reaches

What do you think?
